Step 1: Access & Registration

This is the link to the new cloud based version of Scratch. This is where you will build, store, and access all of your Scratch video game projects. You will need to select the Join Scratch option at the top right of the page and enter in the necessary information.
Step 2: Practice
We will be covering this material in class. However, if you are absent or need additional review, I have also included some short video tutorials below. These tutorials use the older version of Scratch, but you can still use them to accomplish the lessons.
Creating a Basic Video Game
Lesson 1A Making your cat run back and forth (part 1)
Lesson 1B Making your cat run back and forth (part 2)
Lesson 2 Making your cat jump up and down
Lesson 3 Making your cat interact with another sprite (key)
Lesson 4 Making three sprites interact together (cat, key & spaceship.)
Make Your Own Scratch Sprite That Dances
Sprite Dancing Link (Part 1)
Sprite Dancing Link (Part 2)
Step 3: Graded Projects
You will need to complete one of the projects below, making sure you accomplish all gaming specifics.
Maze Game
1. Create maze walls that work.
2. Collect good objects that will need to be used at a later time.
3. Avoid bad objects that penalize you.
4. Create a timer that starts when the game begins and stops when the game ends.
5. Make sure the game has a strong finish or ending.
Block Buster Game
1. The ball bounces correctly off of paddle & edges.
2. The game ends when the ball hits the bottom of the screen.
3. Build multiple blocks (at least 12) that hide when they are stuck by the ball.
4. Keep score for every block that is struck by the ball.
5. Make sure the game has a strong finish or ending.
Platform Game
1. Gravity is set correctly for the main character.
2. Character interacts with the platforms correctly.
3. Character moves to multiple levels (at least two).
4. Character interacts with multiple objects.
5. Make sure the game has a strong finish or ending.
